    One of the best things about this room (I'm a member) is that it's a space built around the game with no compromises. People make comments about the price but I think it makes sense here in the heart of NYC near Herald Square AND it means you're serious about the game if you made that investment. There's no other reason to come here unless you came to play.

    Growing up in the 80s and 90s, it seemed like everyone played pool. Then in the 2000's it became kind of a dead sport/hobby. All the pool halls closed down around my area (there were 5 in my small city alone) and now the younger generation doesn't seem to know anything about it. I have a table, and when my kids and stepsons and nephews or whoever come over, they seem to have little interest in learning to play decent.

      @@BilliardSportsNetwork I think it'll come back around. A big reason pool halls shut down is because kids born in the 90s and beyond don't know how to act right in public, and owners got tired of dealing with them. I do think the sport will get popular again before too long. It's too good of a game not to.

      Pool has a tough time because matches are not fun to watch unless you know what you're looking at which most people really don't. So any audience is always limited to the players. It's always going to be a niche sport and btw no producer should ever try to jazz it up because it always looks lame - (with the exception of the Mosconi Cup)

  • @RichardsWorld

    I'm pretty sure they could handle more members. You can have 24 hour memberships, some work hours memberships, and maybe some late night/early morning memberships. Let those members have 8 hours or something during other hours per month.

    • @BilliardSportsNetwork
      @BilliardSportsNetwork 20 днів тому

      They probably could squeeze people in but I really like how much priority is on the quality of the experience. They would rather have less members have a perfect experience vs a lot of members with an average experience. Their attention to detail is superb and more pool rooms should take note of this!

    Beautiful table and facility. I hope this sort of thing pops up where I live in San Diego. Fortunately I have a pretty decent pool hall a mile from my house that has 9 footers and 7 footers and a snooker table. I hope more money keeps entering the sport like the World Pool Championship with a 250k 1st prize pot. This will attract more young players to playing pool. Pool deserves to be televised on TV and made relevant again. There's never been more interest in this sport right now than any time ever since the 90s. It's time to promote and grow the sport again.

Clean, updated, top equipment etc. The Real Estate owner of this building don’t need to worry about getting his rent out of the 8th floor or worry about convicting them or going vacant. Not sure about the other floors in the building but I know most people & RE investors have left NY or want to leave NY. Cheers

    While I agree Joe would bring his fan base and popularity, Jeremy Jones and his ilk are far superior as pool commentators. But as long as Joe is just the color man I'd be in favor of it. Funny how much you have to know about pool to be a good commentator. Joe has a pretty high Fargo rating, for example, but my guess is he'd be terrible as the main commentator. As would I even though I've devoted almost 40 years to the sport.
